Members of the organization include emergency response specialists and dedicated volunteers from retired military personnel, academics, and community groups.
International Headquarters S.A.R. Taiwan has ninety-seven local branches in Taiwan and two international search and rescue units (known as the International Search and Rescue Operations Taiwan). Of the organization’s approximate 12,000 members, 3,700 are active search and rescue operators. It should be noted that the International Headquarters S.A.R. Taiwan does not charge fees for their services from the victims or their families. Throughout its operations over the past 30 years, the organization has not received government subsidies, or relied on fundraising, or operated as a business entity, and is entirely supported by donations from local businesses and individual donors.
International Headquarters S.A.R. Taiwan, representing the goodwill of the people on Taiwan, is committed to life preservation and the deployment of all of its expertise and resources to support disaster relief missions across the boundaries of nation, religion, race, ethnicity, and political systems.
